All of my working day, plus I suppose because I watch a lot of science TV, lots of my evening too.

We have had quite a lot of questions about how science affects your life and I am beginning to think students think we are hermits in our labs with no lives haha. This is not the case. I work every day in the University, either in the lab or reading and sometimes on weekends as well if I have an experiment that runs over that time. But we do have social lives like everyone else!

70-100% of the working day, sometimes weekends. I say 70% because sometimes I’m working on other things like organising conferences. These are science-related – I’m excited for the one coming up soon about biotechnology. But the work involved is not quite science – calling and emailing journalists to invite them to come to the conference, organising interviews etc. On some days this takes up quite a lot of my day, but it’s fun too.

There’s usually a lot going on so talks, dinners, debates etc. figure in my free time post-labwork. It’s a good life 😀
