I have a distant cousin who is doing a PhD during his medical degree but otherwise not really. My generation has doctors, engineers, accountants and journalists but not scientists.

Yep! My mum is a physics teacher, my brother did physics and is now doing a masters in sports science. My sister did animal science at university but isn’t a scientist now.

No, I am the only one who is a scientist – my dad is an English teacher and my sister is a geographer.

My mum has always been really interested in nature, I think that she was part of the reason that I got so interested in working with animals.

None of my older family members has a science background, including aunts/uncles. My brother studies engineering at Uni and some of my cousins are studying science A-levels. You definitely don’t need to have a relative to make you think you can study science!

I’m the only scientist in the family – my dad worked in radar on ships but that’s the closest we’ve got.
