  I only work with ‘Trypanosome brucei brucei’ (to be specific), yes. But we’ve managed to grow these cells in ‘culture’ i.e., in liquids in flasks left in incubators, and we’ve modified them a bit. Also for experiments we regularly specifically modify one aspect of it, usually a gene, to see how it affects the cell.
