Yep, I play piano and clarinet, but not very well! My brother and sister are both scientists too and between them they play piano, flute, clarinet, guitar, drums and can sing too! Apparently there is a link between science and music because both require a good understanding of patterns.

I can play the fiddle, which is the same as a violin but you call it a fiddle when you play Irish or folk music on it. I was brought up on Irish folk and I didn’t ever learn to read music properly, as I learnt everything by ear, so someone would teach me a tune by playing it and I’d play it back until I knew it. If you ever go to an Irish music session, there’s no sheet music, you can just play the ones you know and it makes it a load of fun.

Yes, I play the piano (I am currently saving up to get an electric piano – don’t worry if I win the prize money it won’t go on that!). As a teenager I also played the drums, I used to love jazz drumming, but haven’t picked up my sticks for years…

I don’t have the ear for it I’m afraid. AND, I don’t understand how people who play the guitar, piano etc. are able to do two different things with their two hands at the same time! Not for me :/

I wish I did – I’ve tried but don’t have the talent for it – or even ability to follow a simple rhythm. I love to listen though.
