I am part of a team that has developed a new device (a type of tissue expander) that is currently being trialled. It will hopefully be used to help plastic surgeons when they are doing reconstruction. Plastic surgery is not the same as cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgery includes re-constructive surgeries, such as after a big accident, after you have removed an area infected with cancer, or if you are repairing a bone defect- such as a cleft palate.
