There are many similarities (and also many differences) between all of the animals that I work with and humans. Some of the older chimps that I have worked with used to be in circuses or did ‘chimp acting’ (like having tea parties). Often they like to put on hats and dress up. This all might seem funny, but it actually means that they don’t live well with other chimps and get lonely even when there are other chimps around them. Luckily in the UK this sort of thing is now banned, but it does still go on in some other countries. If I see that there is a chimp (or other primate) in a movie, and it isn’t CGI, I won’t go to see the movie. They shouldn’t get my money to be cruel to animals.
