Ummm…. that’s a tricky one. I think that I get to do some more exciting things now (like working with monkeys and apes).

Although when you are a child, you get to do to play much more (and not get funny looks from other people when you do!).

Oh yeh! I still have all the wonder and curiosity I did as a child but with the resources and skills to indulge that. I still like to learn new things and like to mess around but I don’t get homework anymore ( say’s the guy who’s answering science questions at home on one screen and doing photos for the department news letter on the other! )

They are too different to compare. No one tells you what to do anymore and you have a much better social life haha but you have lost the blissful ignorance of being able to not worry about what will happen tomorrow or next week.

Working in science does give you a bit of a feeling of childhood though, experimenting and getting things wrong a lot of the time and learning constantly. I think I learnt more in the first year of my PhD than I ever have!

Yeah it’s very different. I have more freedom to do what I want to now and the job aids the freedom because it’s flexible – so that’s exciting. But I was a generally happy child.

I loved being a child, but I also love now! I think labs are more exciting than school because what you do is your choice, but also sometimes less exciting because no one will play Pogs anymore…!

I definitely wouldn’t swap and be a child again now if that helps?!
