• Question: what experiments do you do on your monkeys/chimps and do they get hurt? be honest

      I give the monkeys and apes puzzles to solve. They can push open doors, twist dials, push buttons and plungers to get food out of the puzzles. I look at things like how long it takes them to learn it and if others watch the good ones, do they also learn how to solve the puzzle.

      This research does not hurt the animals in any way. In fact, by giving them puzzles to solve they get something fun to do and a little bit of their favourite foods. If you don’t believe me, you can come along and watch the research – we do it in Edinburgh Zoo and all of it is visible to the public, we have nothing to hide.
