The exact way to do it depends on who you are and how you learn. Some people like to draw pictures or remember rhymes, others just like copying it out over and over again.

However, there is one good rule – if you try to cram it all in at the end, you won’t remember it for long. Try to revise things many times over a long period of time.

Yes it will be different for everyone, the things I found most helpful were:

      – Explaining concepts out loud (to your family, friends or pet!) it really helps you find out whether you understand what’s going on

      – Write down key points that you need to learn (like definitions) on pieces of paper and stick them up in places you will see every day (e.g. by your mirror, on the back of cereal)

      – Make yourself flash cards with questions on one side and answers on the other

      – Do lots of practice papers

      – STAY CALM! Don’t sit down and panic about how much you have left to do. Just take a big breath and start somewhere.

What I have found works for me is if I do tons of reading and make notes, then try and write down pretty much everything I can remember in an essay format. That way, you work out a sequential order for things in your mind so when it comes to answering short questions in your exams, you can pull out the relevent information easily.

Visual reminders also definitely help. If you make a diagram of important points, keep redrawing it until it is burned into your eyeballs! Leave it for a day or so, then try to recall it again!

For me it was getting up and getting it out of the way, then having a couple hours to relax before revising it again, then a break, then revise…. I find writing or typing stuff out a big help – just reading it doesn’t help it sink in.

For me it was studying with someone or a group of people a few weeks before the exam. We would explain things to each other and if one person hadn’t understood part of the subject, we would explain it to them. Teaching someone else always helps.

I would make notes in class but not always. Notes are very useful for revising though.

I used to go on the internet to read about the subject as well — this can be dangerous especially very close to exam time if you get distracted — but generally there are a lot of free resources that are fun and helpful.
