• Question: when I grow up I want to be a lawyer or a doctor but I am not quite sure which one I really want to be can you give me any tips on how to decide?

      It depends what year group you are really, but you probably have plenty of time to choose!

      A good test is to get some work experience in each area, and see which you enjoy most. Try to talk to people who work in law and medicine and decide which would suit you better.

      Other than that I would just keep going with your lessons, and you might find that by the time it comes to choosing a-levels you are enjoying sciences much more than English and history type subjects (or heaven forbid the other way around!)

      You could of course become a lawyer specializing in medicine!

      I agree with Jess, do some work experience and see which you like. However, also remember if you like science that being a doctor isn’t the only career option. There are many ways you can use a science education – many different types of scientist and other people who use science everyday.

      And as Jess suggests, you could combine the two – you might even decide that you wanted to be an environmental lawyer, using biology and law!

      Don’t commit yourself now – you might change your mind. Follow the advice everyone else has given you on this page and since both of those are very competitive, just keep at the back of your mind a back-up plan
